I have VSS 2005 set up on a server and have been using it for a while
- it seems to work. From my usual PC, I've been working on a solution
which is stored in my VSS DB. I use VS 2008 on it.

I'm currently logging on from home and accessing a different server
which has VS 2008 and the VSS 2005 client installed. I've tried to
open my solution from the VSS DB but it just flips back to the open
file dialog. I can't figure out why.

This is what I do:
In VS2008, File > Open > Project/Solution...
The Open Project dialog appears. I click Microsoft Visual SourceSafe
in the NavBar on the left. Look in: switches to Microsoft Visual
SourceSafe and "Add SourceSafe Database" and my database appear in the
main window.
I then double-click on my database name which opens the database and
reveals all of the projects I have in my VSS DB.
I navigate to the solution file in question, click open and then My
Computer becomes selected in the NavBar and Look in: and I see a list
of local and network drives in the main window.

I've also tried creating a new solution locally and then Add Existing
Project and following the same route as above (except selecting
a .csproj file) but I get the same results.

Any ideas?

Found the solution: there's an update to VSS 2005 here:
